KIDAPAWAN CITY: Five persons were injured when an unidentified suspect lobbed a hand grenade and exploded in the town of Carmen, North Cotabato on Friday evening, authorities said. Police identified the victims as David Orteza, Joel Aragon, Henry Nobleza, Darwin Ortiz and an unidentified child — all residents in nearby Kabacan. Chief Inspector Julius Malcontento, Carmen chief of police, told reporters that the explosion happened at a house in Purok Pag-asa in the village of Gen. Luna about 6:45 p.m.Malcontento said the victims were having a dinner when the grenade was thrown at them. Responding police chased the lone-attacker who managed to escape, he said. Initial investigation showed that a land dispute could be the reason for the grenade-throwing incident, Malcontento said.
