They were also slapped with a Tk15,000 fine each and would have to be in jail for 18 more months if they failed to pay it. All the militants, except Md Rokonuzzaman who is currently on the run, were present during the pronouncement of the verdict. According to case details, RAB 9 arrested the five militants on August 15, 2009, while they were preparing to carry out sabotage at Azizul Haque's house in Bandho Chithlia village of Jamalpur Sadar upazila. They were sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment following the testimony of nine people in the case.
