GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines — The police has beefed up its campaign against outcast Islamic militants in Region 12 by augmenting on-field law enforcement units with 489 more personnel. Cedrick Train, police director for Region 12, told reporters Tuesday that they have just sworn in 111 policewoman and 378 policemen for deployment in central Mindanao. Units of PRO-12 have arrested more than a dozen members of the ISIS-inspired group in a continuing extensive crackdown since 2016. Train said all of them in their batch shall undergo a special training on internal security operations. They shall also study the PNP’s Special Counter-insurgency Operation Unit Training Course, according to Train.
