4 supreme judges battle misconduct claims

By SAM KIPLAGATMore by this AuthorFour Supreme Court judges have 14 days to respond to reports that they violated the Constitution and accepted bribes, among other accusations of misconduct. The petition against Justices Mohammed Ibrahim, Jackton Ojwang, Smokin Wanjala and Njoki Ndung’u was filed at the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) by Mr Jared Ongeri. The Supreme Court judges said the matter was a pre-election dispute and the complainants only raised it after the August 8, 2017 General Election results were announced. On Wednesday, two committees sat to consider the disputes filed against 12 judges — two from the Supreme Court and 10 from the High Court and the Employment court. The commission, in a statement on Wednesday, said it had received 69 complaints against judges.
