HPG said 1,186 people died in 9,663 road accidents from January to September 2019, an average of about four deaths daily. Based on records of the HPG, 8,809 accidents this year were caused by reckless driving. The remaining accidents were caused by poor road conditions, mechanical defects of vehicles and other factors. It is for this reason that the HPG is urging motorists to practice safe driving to avoid accidents and casualties. “When traffic is slow-moving, we should maintain a safe distance between vehicles and not go fast,” he said.
