Four students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) continued their hunger strike for the second consecutive day in the campus demanding withdrawal of a case filed against 56 students of the university. They students who are participating in the hunger strike are – Puja Biswas, a student of Department of International Relations, Sarder Zahid and Tuli, students of Department of English, and Arman, a student of Department of Law and Justice. One of the participators of the hunger strike Sarder Zahid said: “We will continue the hunger strike if the university vice-chancellor (VC) does not assure us with withdrawal of the case.”While contacted, the pro-VC of the university Professor Amir Hossian said, he was in Dhaka and he will look into the matter when he returns to the campus. On May 26, agitating students blocked Dhaka-Aricha highway for six hours following the deaths of two fellow students in a road accident in Savar. Later, the students besieged and ransacked the university VC’s residence protesting the police attack on them.
