4.48 Montrash CourtesyTheatre troupe Spardha is bringing British playwright Sarah Kane's final play to Dr Nilima Ibrahim AuditoriumA one-person play titled ‘4.48 Montrash’ will run for fourteen days, starting from December 18, at Dr Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium, Bangladesh Mohila Somiti (Baily Road). The play has been translated by Shahman Moishan and Sharif Shiraj, from British playwright Sarah Kane’s final play 4.48 Psychosis. Designed and directed by Syed Jamil Ahmed, the play lacks a linear narrative, and is composed of long monologues, confessions, stream-of-consciousness, interactions with audience members, dialogues about the minutiae of life. CourtesyThe protagonist is a young artist, suffering from depression, engendered by the prevalent violence in society, including fanaticism, violence against women, absence of law and order among others. Theatre troupe Spardha’s production 4.48 Montrash will be staged every day between December 18-31 at Baily Road.
