3D printed breasts created for Kiwi women following mastectomies

Fay Cobbett, co-founder of myReflection, was the first to be fitted with one of the company's breast prosthesis. A West Auckland woman's battle with cancer inspired her partner to create 3D printed breasts for women who have undergone mastectomies. Fay Cobbett, from Huapai, had the operation after a breast cancer diagnosis in 2015, but after deciding not to have reconstructive surgery, she struggled to find a comfortable alternative. Women who decide to opt for the myReflections breast prothesis would need to be photographically scanned to create a 3D map of their torso, if prior to their mastectomy. The scan takes hundreds of photographs to create a 3D map from which the prothesis is created.
