more-inThirty more local bodies in Ernakulam are likely to have green volunteers (Haritha Karma Sena) to collect plastic and e-waste from your doorstep by April. Eighteen local bodies had launched the Haritha Karma Sena last year. The preliminary assessment made in these local bodies found it was functioning properly in North Paravur and Perumbavur municipalities. The existing Kudumbasree or self-help groups can be considered as Haritha Karma Senas once they receive approval from the local bodies concerned. Local bodies will fix the user fee to be collected from citizens for utilisation of common waste processing systems.
