After a big rain event in the north and east of the North Island, a few measly showers around Gisborne is all that remains. A ridge of high pressure has settled over Aotearoa this week, bringing fine, sunny days and 30-degree temperatures. Much of the country is in store for dry, sunny conditions as a result of the high that's expected to linger into next week. In the main centres, those in Auckland can expect fine weather on Friday and throughout the weekend, with some light winds. “Thanks to a persistent high, summer conditions have returned across Aotearoa,” MetService meteorologist Ashlee Parkes stated on the forecaster's website.
