Ethiopian authorities say at least 30 people were killed after a massive garbage landslide on the outskirts of the capital Addis Ababa. A city spokesperson said Sunday most of the dead are women and children, adding that search teams expect to find more bodies in the coming days. “The death toll is now 30 … we expect the number of victims to increase because the landslide covered a relatively large area,” Dagmawit Moges, city spokesperson, said. According to reports, a large pile of garbage at the Koshe landfill collapsed Saturday and flattened dozens of homes nearby. The Koshe site has been the city’s garbage main dump or more than 40 years.
