more-inIn a tragic incident, three members of a family — a woman, her daughter and granddaughter — were killed on the spot and a 28-year-old man was hurt when their motorbike was hit by a container lorry at Peddavanka village of Shantipuram mandal in Kuppam circle on Sunday. The deceased – Narayanamma (42), Mamatha (22) and her daughter Yashwantika (2) – were pillion riders on a bike being ridden by Mamatha’s brother Rajappa (26). The family, from A.Kothapalle village of Gudupalle mandal near Kuppam, was going to fix a marriage alliance for Rajappa. When the bike reached a narrow road, the container lorry, coming in the opposite direction, crushed the two-wheeler under its rear wheels. Police pacify protestersOn hearing the tragic news, the villagers of A.Kothapalle rushed to the spot and stormed a stone quarry at nearby Peddavanka, which owned the lorry.
