The fight broke out at Pantha Chowk on the outskirts of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir. "In an overnight gunfight that continued until early morning, three militants were killed in Pantha Chowk area here," a police official posted in Srinagar said. According to police officials, the three militants first fired upon a checkpoint manned by police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Pantha Chowk. On Friday, four militants were killed in a similar gunfight with government forces in the adjacent Shopian district.
