The boat was heading towards Hujurpara Fan Factory with 10 passengers when the incident took place at Hujurer Ghat area in Keraniganj. The missing woman is Shafiqul’s mother Shitol Akter. "The victims were in the middle of the river in a small dingy boat when a speedy cargo vessel hit. I think the boat sank because it couldn't keep its balance with the cargo's speed," said River Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdus Sobhan. Assistant Superintendent of Police Abul Kalam Azad said river police have detained six staff members of the cargo vessel following the incident.
