THREE biomass power plants in Negros Occidental are scheduled for inauguration either this year or in the next, according to an official of Negros Island Biomass Holdings Inc. (Islabio). Islabio owns shares in the three biomass entities, which are engaged in biomass power generation and sale of electricity. Islabio also terminated the contract and commissioned Pöyry to assist them with the $55-million South Negros BioPower project. We have a battery of expats in the group purposely to complete San Carlos BioPower and then South Negros BioPower,” Dia said. Converting agricultural waste to biomass power is a sustainable way of creating economic value while caring for the environment,” IFC Country Manager Yuan Xu had said.
