The decision was taken on Friday evening in a special syndicate meeting of the university with JU Vice Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam in the chair. The expelled BCL men are— Chhatra League JU unit Religion Affairs Secretary Mohitosh Roy of History department, Assistant Secretary GM Ekramuddin Omi of Marketing department and activist Ekram Nahid of Statistics department. Chhatra League leader Mohitosh Roy was expelled for two years while Ekramuddin Omi and Ekram Nahid were expelled for six months. Meanwhile, the authorities also warned Chhatra League activist Bayezid Islam, a student of Botany department for his connection in the attack. JU unit Chhatra League also suspended its leader Mohitosh Roy from the organisation for this incident.
