The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in India on Friday arrested three railway employees in connection with a train accident in Balasore, Odisha, in June that left almost 300 people dead and many others injured. The CBI arrested Senior Section Engineer Arun Kumar Mohanta, Section Engineer Mohammad Amir Khan and Technician Pappu Kumar. They were booked under sections 304 and 201 of the IPC. The Balasore train tragedy probe has confirmed that error and negligence on the part of the Signal and Telecommunication department staff led to the tragic rail accident on June 2. The double train accident killed 293 people, making it one of the worst rail tragedies in the country.
