The government has cancelled another tender awarded to a local road construction company and given it over shoddy work to a foreign contractor. Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia on Monday said the contract that had been given to Nyoro Construction Company in 2011 has been cancelled. The contractor failed to complete the Gitugi Mioro Road in stipulated time. Macharia said the contractor also failed to heed a directive by President Uhuru Kenyatta last November to complete the road in a month. These roads will transform Murang’a county and will support the growth of the agriculture sector,” he said.
