28,000 people still marooned amid worsening flood situation in Lalmonirhat


On Sunday, Dharla was flowing 45cm above its danger mark at Shimulbari point of Mogolhat area in Lalmonirhat Sadar. Low lying areas of Mogolhat and Kulaghat unions of these upazila were flooded once again, according to sources from the Water Development Board. Teesta had been flowing 25cm above the danger mark on Sunday afternoon and all gates of the barrage were kept open due to the pressure of water upstream of the dam. Hamizon Nesa, 58, and Azizul Islam, 65, are among those marooned in Aditmari upazila. They said relief goods were not provided to them despite the fact that they were marooned for three days.
