250 thousand children in Libya are at risk


Over the past seven months, the unprecedented shortage of vaccines in the country has disrupted immunization schedules for children and put them at risk of disease and death.There has been a worrying decline in the number of children receiving life-saving vaccines globally. Many vaccination centers in Libya have been forced to close due to a lack of personal protective equipment for health workers. BCG vaccine protects children from tuberculosis, the world’s most contagious killer disease. UNICEF and the World Health Organization have urged the Libyan authorities to secure the immediate release of funds to replenish vaccine supplies in the country. He stressed, “Vaccines are necessary, and there is no safe child until all children are safe.”UNICEF and WHO will continue to advocate for vaccination to save the lives of children in both Libya and the world.
