25 lakh kids part of largest national learning survey


NEW DELHI: Seeking to identify gaps in learning and interventions required in government and government-aided schools, 25 lakh students from classes III, V and VIII in 1.1lakh schools across 700 districts of the country appeared for the largest ever National Achievement Survey (NAS) conducted by NCERT on Monday.Students of classes III and V were assessed on language, mathematical and environmental studies abilities, while for Class VIII it was science and social science instead of environmental studies. The data will be uploaded by the end of November and analytical reports will be available in three to five months. For the first time, the survey was based on learning outcomes.According to senior officials from HRD ministry , all 29 states and seven Union territories participated in the survey.
