Police said the accident happened at 8.30am on the Phetkasem Road in Bang Saphan Noi district. The 24 lottery vendors hired a six-wheeled truck, which was modified as a songtaew bus, to transport them to Hat Yai to sell lottery tickets. The truck was driven by Thongchai Phuengkham, 41. Thongchai said he was about to overtake a 10-wheeled truck when the truck changed lanes, prompting him to brake sharply and causing him to lose control because the road was slippery after the rain. The vehicle then crashed into the ditch and hit a tree.
