Port Said Attorney Gen. Faisal al-Tahawy ordered on Wednesday that 24 people be placed into custody for 15 days, pending investigations into assaulting police personnel. The attacks occurred during confrontations between police and protesters who were demonstrating against the death sentences handed to 11 suspects involved in the Port Said stadium massacre. The prosecution ordered the National Security Agency to conduct investigations into the incidents. The prosecution accused the suspects of protesting, rioting, assaulting police and smashing two police vehicles. Prosecutors earlier heard testimonies of police officers who arrested the suspects during the confrontations.
