MIRI: A total of 234 people from six settlements have been evacuated and 11 clinics and 38 schools in four divisions in northern Sarawak have been closed due to floods. However, 10 clinics are still operating as flood waters are not at the danger level yet, said the Sarawak Disaster Relief committee in its latest report on Friday (Dec 22). The three divisions still facing heavy rain are Miri, Limbang, Bintulu and Kapit. It added that the 234 people evacuated from longhouses and riverine settlements are being housed in Tatau, Jabai, Sebauh, Ukong, Mendamit and Menuang. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a bad weather warning for the northern half of Sarawak and almost all of Sabah.
