Md Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mongla police station in Bagerhat, confirmed the matter on Friday. He said: "Members of the Bangladesh Navy detained the fishermen on Thursday evening and handed them over to the Mongla police station around 2:30pm on Friday." Earlier, Navy personnel detained the 23 fishermen and seized two fishing trawlers -- FB Swarnadweep and FB Amrite -- on Thursday evening while they were fishing in the Bay of Bengal in Bangladesh's border. On October 1, some 15 other Indian fishermen were also sent to jail on the same charge after Navy personnel detained them for their intrusion in the bay, the police official added.
