229,000 people went to Opera House shows in past yearALMOST 230,000 people passed through the doors of Cork Opera House as the city venue hosted 277 performances in the last 12 months. 2017/18 was described as a landmark year for Cork Opera House at the meeting. Cork Opera House also commenced the first phase of a significant project required to update the theatre, with work focusing on the back of house. Speaking at the AGM, Cork Opera House CEO Eibhlín Gleeson said: “Our 2017/18 financial result reaffirms Cork Opera House’s position at the centre of arts, culture and entertainment in Cork. Ms Gleeson continued: “These performances engage artists and creative people from our own region, presenting key opportunities for many local artists to work on the Opera House stage.”
