After their promotion, the 220 people were made officers on special duty (OSD) by an official order of the Public Administration Ministry, signed by Md Abdul Latif, deputy secretary of the ministry. The promotions will be considered effective on various dates ranging between January 26, 2006, and October 24, 2018, according to the order. The government merged the economic cadre with the administration cadre with a gazette notification on November 13, 2018, aiming to ensure a more dynamic, coordinated, and people friendly administrative system.
