FIFA has released its evaluations of North America’s United 2026 bid and Morocco’s bid for the 2026 soccer World Cup. Some of those members may well throw FIFA’s evaluation in the trash can. After all, Qatar won the 2022 World Cup after a relatively weak assessment on FIFA’s Evaluation Report for that tournament. FIFA might have passed Morocco’s bid for what may be the first 48-team world cup, but it had strong reservations about several aspects of the bid. In the report, FIFA says the United 2026 bid allows FIFA to “focus on a number of exciting initiatives related to sports science, fan engagement, multimedia interaction and other new forms of digitalization.”
