KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians above the age of 18, as well as corporate entities, will be assigned a Tax Identification Number or TIN. Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said the TIN initiative will be rolled out beginning January 2021. Meanwhile, he said the government will merge the Special Commissioner of Income Tax and Customs Appeal Tribunal into the new Tax Appeal Tribunal. "Through this merger, taxpayers who are dissatisfied with the Inland Revenue Board director-general or the Customs Department director-general's decisions may submit a tax-related appeal under all applicable tax laws to the Tax Appeal Tribunal." The Tax Appeal Tribunal, he added would be operational in 2021.
