Country House paid an eye-watering $132.40 to win. The amazing and amazingly rare disqualification of Maximum Security meant that Country House entered the history books in a not-entirely- glorious way, making him the horse with the second-highest odds ever to win the Derby. The Baffert-trained Improbable and his stablemate Game Winner were promoted to fourth and fifth, respectively, by the stewards' landmark judgement against Maximum Security. The first race was the freakish wire-to-wire battle happening up front that resulted in Country House punching out over most of the acknowledged favorites. The bookmakers will be hoping that the holders of those tickets will be as rare as the stewards' judgment against Maximum Security.
