The Geological Society has announced the winners of this year’s competition, which for the first time allowed in images taken from around the world. According to the society, the photographs showcase the rich diversity of environments in which scientists, live, work and travel. • The images will appear in the society’s 2020 calendar and will also feature in a free exhibition at its London HQ to mark Earth Science Week
