2017 will see stronger positive growth: AffinHwang Capital

KUALA LUMPUR: There are still signs for the Malaysian economy to record slightly stronger positive growth in 2017, says AffinHwang Capital Research. The research house expects the real GDP to be 4.4 per cent next year, which comes within the official projections. On the external front, the net export of goods and services is projected to contribute 0.2 percentage points to Malaysia’s GDP growth. This was on account of stronger growth in the real export of goods and services of 2.0 per cent in 2017, compared to 1.1 per cent estimated in 2016. AffinHwang Capital expects the private investment growth will be given a boost from ongoing infrastructure projects and latest Budget 2017 new projects like the new East Coast Railway Line (ECRL) project estimated to cost RM55 billion.
