20-25% of Mumbaikars under risk of oral cancer: IHP survey

If a survey done by a preventive health care organisation in Mumbai is to be believed, 20-25 % of the Mumbaikars are under the risk of oral cancer due to consumption of tobacco. Indus Health Plus, a preventive health check-up organisation, has collected details of people enrolling for their health check up plans from January 2015 to April 2016. Consumption of tobacco in any form increases the risk of COPD, brain stroke, heart attack, asthma, lung cancer, interstitial lung disease, respiratory disease and diabetes. We strongly believe that public awareness campaigns will make people conscious and create a positive impact in quitting tobacco," Naikawadi added. Tobacco consumption has been the major cause of death and illness worldwide.
