The deceased were primarily identified as Sijan and Rahim, both residents of Ludhua village of East-Fatehpur union of Matlab Uttar. According to police and locals, the motorbike went under a wheel of the covered van at Torki Kanda four-road intersection of Gajra market, leaving both of the riders severely injured. Sijan died on the way to Matlab South Upazila Health Complex while Rahim was declared dead after being taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Confirming the deaths, Matlab Uttar police station Officer-in-Charge Nasir Uddin Mridha said police seized the covered van and held its driver.
