This should not happen. Barpeta in lower Assam and Morigaon in central Assam continue to be the worst affected districts with 3.64 lakh people and 3.41 lakh people hit respectively.ASDMA said the Brahmaputra is still flowing above danger mark at Nematighat in Jorhat, Goalpara and Dhubri.In an interim report to Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday, the state government pointed out that besides floods, the state also experienced unprecedented thunderstorm and landslides this year, causing 34 and 17 deaths respectively.While both the Centre and the state government have assured all assistance to affected people, the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief and MP Badruddin Ajmal alleged that many flood-hit areas of lower Assam have been deprived of adequate relief materials.
