The New Alipore house in which Moloy Mookerjee was found murdered Aug. 26: Police arrested two men in Behala this afternoon on the charge of murdering an 82-year-old engineer in New Alipore on August 6. Moloy Mookerjee was found smothered to death in his ransacked bedroom on the first floor of his double-storeyed home. He had apparently been killed past midnight while his son and daughter-in-law slept in their bedroom on the mezzanine floor. The arrested duo had entered the compound between 10.30pm and 11pm on August 5, an investigating officer said. CCTV footage from the road outside the house showed two men walking towards the New Alipore fuel pump.
