LUCENA CITY – A five-year-old pedestrian and a motorcycle rider died in two separate road accidents in Gumaca and Sariaya towns in Quezon province on Sunday, police said Monday. The bus driver, Demetrio Angeles, voluntarily surrendered at the Plaridel police station in the nearby town after the incident. In Sariaya, motorcyclist John Paul Grimaldo, 20, while traversing the eco-tourism road, occupied the opposite lane and subsequently collided head-on into an oncoming Manila-bound passenger bus in Barangay Guis-Guis around 7 p.m. The victim, who sustained serious injuries, also died while being taken to Greg Hospital at the town center. The bus driver, Efren Reparto, was detained at the Sariaya police jail.
