Shafiqul Islam, station officer at the Agrabad Fire Service and Civil Defence told Dhaka Tribune that the wall collapsed on Shahid when he was returning home after Jumma prayers. Shahid died on the spot, while Al Amin succumbed to his injuries at the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Meanwhile, Newton, deputy assistant director of Agrabad Fire Service and Civil Defence, told Bangla Tribune: "An excavator was clearing up sand placed next to the boundary wall. The police and fire service officials are investigating the reasons behind the wall collapse.
