Our Special CorrespondentCalcutta: The CBI has arrested two Calcutta-based company directors, including Shibaji Panja who was considered close to chief minister Mamata Banerjee, on the charge of defrauding a consortium of banks out of Rs 515 crore. Panja and Kaustav Ray, directors of RP Infosystems, have been accused of submitting forged documents. The arrests have been executed at a time the Nirav Modi banking scandal has put the Narendra Modi government under pressure. CBI sources said Panja and Ray had been arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by D.V. The agency announced the arrests of Panja, who used to be Mamata's showbiz gatekeeper, and Ray after questioning them in Salt Lake.
