NEW DELHI: The first session of the opening day of the series-opener between West Indies and India played out the way many would have predicted. Gabriel produced enough bounce to trouble Indian openers Murali Vijay and Dhawan. Dhawan prodded on the front foot whenever he got the opportunity but once he got the measure of the pitch, cracked three boundaries in the last three overs of the session.72/1 (Dhawan 46*; Gabriel 1/18) vs Opening bowlers Shannon Gabriel and skipper Jason Holder concentrated on dragging back the length. Directed straight at the body, Vijay went on the backfoot but could not fend off the rising delivery and nicked it to first slip.
