Over the the last week and a half, female athletes, in particular, have stormed through Rio de Janeiro and into the record books. In sports ranging from swimming to wrestling, women have made sure their performances both in the water and on the ground will not soon be forgotten. With the games wrapping up soon, we thought now’s as good a time as any to take a step back and appreciate just how many historic moments there have been for female athletes in Rio so far. And hey, there are still a few days left for even more memorable moments, too. Katie Ledecky broke the world record in both the women’s 400-meter and 800-meter freestyle.
