Myanmar has identified 180,000 Rohingya refugees from a list of 800,000 sheltered in Bangladesh as eligible for repatriation to their native country.Bangladesh delivered the original list in six batches from 2018-20, the Chief Adviser's Press Wing said in a media statement on Friday.The verification of another 70,000 Rohingya people required a deeper assessment of their photographs and names, it added.Khalilur Rahman, the top aide of Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, and U Than Shwe, deputy prime minister and foreign minister of Myanmar, spoke on the sidelines of the 6th BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok.The confirmation from Myanmar is a "major step toward the longstanding resolution of the Rohingya crisis", the press release said.The Myanmar authorities also confirmed that the verification of the remaining 550,000 Rohingya refugees on the original list will be undertaken on an "expeditious basis". �"bdnews24.com
