SUBIC, ZAMBALES–Fifty hospital staffers in Olongapo City went on quarantine starting on Monday (Aug. 17) after they were exposed to a 75-year-old dialysis patient who was infected with SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Jewel Manuel, chief of the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital (JLGMH), said among the quarantined hospital staffers were 16 doctors and 32 nurses. He said JLGMH is temporarily not accepting patients in its surgery ward, medical ward and the whole dialysis center. The infected female patient, who was suffering from kidney failure, went to the hospital for her first dialysis on Aug. 13. Respiratory samples were taken from her two days after her second dialysis on Aug. 15.
