At least 16 people have died in Bettiah and Motihari districts after floods continued to wreak havoc in 12 districts of Bihar. Bettiah was one of the worst affected districts with 12 deaths as flood water entered several villages after 6 lakh cusec water was discharged from the Valmikinagar barrage on Monday afternoon. "We are carrying out relief and rescue work in the flood affected areas. I thank the Centre for the timely assistance provided to the state to deal with the crisis," said Nitish Kumar.
