Regional News of Saturday, 7 February 2026Source: otecfmghana.comA 15-year-old boy, Mattew Mahama, has drowned in a pool of stagnant water at Atwimaminaso, near Fiapre in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region, sparking renewed concern over safety at road construction sites. The tragic incident occurred at a section of the Sunyani outer ring road currently under construction, a few metres from where the highway intersects the Fiapre–Catholic University road. By the time Asaase News arrived at the scene, grief-stricken relatives and residents had gathered, anxiously awaiting the arrival of the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service to retrieve the boy’s body. The incident was subsequently reported to the Odumase Police, who visited the site for one of the boys to identify the exact location where Matthew drowned. The Sunyani outer ring road project is being executed by Kofi Job Company Limited.
