Cervical cancer is the second-most frequent cancer among Kenyan women and the leading cause of death among women of reproductive age. By 2025, the number of new cervical cancer cases annually will reach 4,200, according to the Kenya Cancer Registry. Fifteen new cases of cervical cancer are reported in Nairobi every week, the Health ministry has said. The estimated number of cervical cancer cases annually is nearly 3,000, while the death toll is about 1,600. Speaking during a cervical cancer forum in Nairobi, Muraguri said another strategy will be launched next month and will focus on screening and early detection.
