Tensions grew between the groups after a trivial incident in which Social Science Department Dean Abdul Alami was humiliated by a staff member. “Around 11am on Saturday, the students and staff began arguing over the matter. Four to five members of the security staff, including Officer Rafiqul Islam, were injured after students attacked.”The staff then joined together and retaliated against the students. The students vandalised close to 30 motorcycles.”“The students attacked the staff after the teacher’s provocations,” said PSTU Staff Union President Shams Saad Fakhrul.
