Devastating flash flooding north of Wellington has left up to 15 homes uninhabitable, and closed State Highway 1 for about two hours. Tey had received around 22 calls due to the flooding, and around 15 homes in the Airlie Rd region would likely be left uninhabitable. Google Maps/Supplied SH1 Plimmerton to Paekakariki is closed due to flooding, as are alternative routes Paekakariki Hill Rd and Grays Rd. Wellington Water said there was flooding at several points in Plimmerton. A heavy rain warning has been issued this morning for Wellington and the Tararua Ranges, with heavy rain and gale-force winds expected tomorrow.
