High State Security prosecution authority ordered on Monday a 15-day detention pending investigations for two defendants against the backdrop of the publicly known rainbow flag case. The two had shared pictures and posts on their Facebook accounts which were subjects to media campaign against them eventually leading to their arrest. The incident under legal prosecution refers to the raise of a rainbow flag symbolic of the gay community during a concert last week by Lebanese band Mashrou Leila. This comes as 15 defendants accused of committing acts of debauchery are to stand trial in front of a Misdemeanor Court. Meanwhile, the Musicians Syndicate sought to ban the band form performing in Egypt and the band issued Monday a statement criticising the situation.
