14 coal miners abducted over dispute between mine owners, jirga


Unidentified assailants abducted 14 coal miners in Darra Adama Khel on Sunday over a dispute between mine owners and the local jirga. The coal miners worked at a mine owned by Abidur Rehman and were kidnapped from the local market area. Reportedly, the incident took place after evening prayers and two miners managed to escape the custody of the kidnappers. 10 of the 14 miners belong to the Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). On January 2, a gas explosion in a coal mine in the Chamalang area of Dukki district claimed four lives and injured one.
